We are looking for a Software Engineer (m/f/d)- Backend.
As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the control software that powers our quantum computing systems. In this position, you will work closely with our international team of physicists and engineers to build robust, scalable, portable and maintainable control software. Depending on your level of experience, you will take on one or more of the following tasks:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy services that enable professional use of quantum computing
- Build APIs and data interfaces to integrate various hardware components of our quantum computing stack
- Ensure scalability and maintainability of backend systems, adhering to high software engineering standards
- Optimise data processing pipelines for performance and reliability.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system robustness
- Identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities in backend systems
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software architecture with hardware requirements
- Document software designs and maintain high code quality through code reviews and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years of professional experience in developing portable, scalable control systems
- Strong programming skills in Python writing production ready code
- Experience with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and data modelling
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Interest in translating physical principles into practical solutions
- Good grasp of software architecture and design patterns for scalable systems
- Fluent communication and writing skills in English
- Master’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering
- Background in robotics/aviation/automotive
- Exposure to high-performance computing, quantum systems, or other advanced hardware technologies
- Experience in programmatic device control (SCPI, MODBUS, etc., over serial, USB, TCP)
- Experience in quantum controller electronics
- Experience with oscilloscopes or emulators for software debugging
